Baggage
Checked baggage is the airline’s responsibility from the moment you hand it over at the counter until you collect it from the belt. If your bag does not show up or arrives damaged, the report is filed with the airline, not with the airport.
Luggage wrapping
Secure Wrap, on the ground floor, before check-in.
Bag did not arrive
Report it at your airline’s counter in the baggage claim hall.
Compensation
Up to 150 UMA for lost checked baggage.
If your bag does not arrive
- Do not leave the baggage claim hall.
- Go to your airline’s counter and file a property irregularity report.
- Keep the report number, your boarding pass and the bag tag.
- Ask how the bag will be delivered to you once it is found.
- Keep receipts for anything you have to buy while you wait for your baggage.
Compensation for lost or damaged baggage
Mexico’s Civil Aviation Law sets maximum amounts in Units of Measure and Update (UMA). With the UMA value in force in 2026:
| Type of baggage | Limit | Equivalent in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Checked baggage | 150 UMA | MXN $17,596.50 |
| Hand luggage | 80 UMA | MXN $9,384.80 |
Wrapping and left luggage
The Secure Wrap plastic wrapping service is on the ground floor; use it before checking in. The terminal does not offer left-luggage storage, so you cannot leave bags at the airport while you tour the city.
