Connecting flights

What you need to do at Monterrey International Airport depends on whether your flights are domestic or international and whether they are on the same booking.

ConnectionWhat to doRecommended time between flights
Domestic to domestic
e.g. Puebla – Monterrey – Hermosillo
No government procedures. On a single booking your bag usually goes straight to your final destination. With different airlines, tell the next airline’s agent so your bag travels with you. If the flights were bought separately, collect your bag in Monterrey and check in again.Be at the gate at least 1 hour before departure
Domestic to international
e.g. Puebla – Monterrey – Los Angeles
There is no passport control when leaving Monterrey; the airline checks your documents at boarding. If your bag was checked only to Monterrey, collect it and check it in again.Be at the gate at least 1 hour before departure
International to domestic
e.g. Los Angeles – Monterrey – Puebla
Go through immigration, collect your bag and clear customs. If it is checked to your final destination, place it on the transfer belt; otherwise take it to the next airline’s counter. Go back through security to the gate area.At least 2 hours
International to international
e.g. Los Angeles – Monterrey – San Salvador
Go through immigration, collect your bag, clear customs, place your bag on the transfer belt and go back through security. Meet the exit immigration requirements your airline indicates. At least 2 hours

Changing terminals

Monterrey has three terminals. If your next flight leaves from a different terminal, use the free shuttle that connects Terminals A, B and C, and allow extra time.

The time printed on your boarding pass is the departure time, not the boarding time.
